Ingredients
- 500 gramspotatoes
boiled and mashed
- 15 gramsfresh coriander leaves
finely chopped
- 1 piecegreen chili
finely chopped, adjust to taste
- 1 teaspoonginger
grated
- 0 ½ teaspooncarom seeds (ajwain)
- 0 ½ teaspoonred chili powder
- 0 ½ teaspoonamchur powder (dry mango powder)
optional, for tanginess
- 1 teaspoonroasted cumin powder
- 0 ½ teaspoonchat masala
- 1 teaspoonsalt
adjust to taste
- 3 tablespoonsbread crumbs
for binding
- 3 tablespoonsoil
for shallow frying
Instructions
Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and let them cool slightly.
Peel the boiled potatoes and mash them thoroughly in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
Add finely chopped coriander leaves, green chili, grated ginger, carom seeds, red chili powder, amchur powder, roasted cumin powder, chat masala, salt, and bread crumbs into the mashed potatoes.
Mix all ingredients well until evenly combined to form a soft, pliable dough-like mixture.
Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each into round, flat patties about 2 cm thick.
Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Once hot, place the patties in the pan without overcrowding.
Shallow fry the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
Remove the patties from the pan and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Serve hot with green chutney, tamarind chutney, or ketchup as a delicious snack or appetizer.
